The Department of Mechatronics Engineering at the College of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (CEME), National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), is a leading center for education and research in robotics, automation, artificial intelligence, and intelligent systems. Through multidisciplinary teaching and research, the department integrates mechanical engineering, electronics, embedded systems, control, and AI to develop innovative engineering solutions. Research spans humanoid robots, autonomous ground and underwater vehicles, robotic manipulators, computer vision, SLAM, machine learning, reinforcement learning, intelligent control, and human-robot interaction. The department collaborates closely with academia, industry, and government on cutting-edge research while fostering innovation through student projects and funded initiatives. As organizer of the National Engineering Robotics Contest (NERC), CEME plays a vital role in advancing robotics education across Pakistan. At the Indus RAS Expo, the department will showcase intelligent robotic platforms, autonomous navigation, AI-powered perception, and embedded intelligence, demonstrating practical technologies with significant industrial and societal impact.

Overview RDE extends its services to the Tri-Services, Defence Production Establishments, Law Enforcement Agencies, civil government organizations, and friendly foreign countries. This collaborative approach enables the integration of diverse expertise, promotes knowledge sharing, and accelerates the development of cutting-edge defence solutions. Our Goals Over the years, RDE has facilitated significant technology diffusion across the defence sector. However, its most meaningful contribution lies in developing a highly skilled and trained workforce capable of handling advanced technologies. By promoting the absorption of new technologies and continuously expanding local development and production capabilities, RDE is strengthening the country’s defence ecosystem. These efforts are strategically aligned to achieve long-term self-reliance and technological independence.
